And so it was on Gold Cup day, the sun came out right on queue. Drinking became a sport all of its own, accompanied by the thumping sound system and roar of ‘Come On Eileen’ by Dexyes Midnight Runners and other popular 80’s sing along classics continued until the big race, when an altogether change of mood took charge with fortunes for some and a quick .50p bet for others placed on their choice winner.
