Surfing up river at Newnham under the largest full moon in 18 years just had to be done. A flock of large gulls made its way down river skimming the water. A crow circled high up the hill. The beautiful peach coloured orb of the moon suddenly slipped over the horizon, still subtle in tone against the pale blue sky. As the sky darkened in tone the moon took on a magnificent peach to orange colour as it passed through the low atmosphere. Night surfers made their way across the mud flats by ‘The Old Passage Inn’ Arlingham to meet the surf. The Severn Bore arrived in the still air with that familiar rushing sound, hardly able to see with the naked eye now, sound taking over as the Bore passed by with a peach reflection of the moon across the dark water and briefest glimpse of surfers heading up river towards Broad Oak.
I carried on taking pictures at the cameras highest setting of ISO 6400 and no flash of course in an attempt to create some images that were more like charcoal drawings so maximum noise and art for art’s sake. These you will see are in sepia taking on quite a different look .
